Hi! I'm MEG, and I'm mostly a Product Designer (seriously considering calling myself a Design Engineer because why not). Anyway. Today I was scrolling through Twitter and came across a tweet that had reached 14M impressions as I type this. It was a speed reading thing and so of course this started because of Twitter.
People were in the comments testing themselves, some were asking if someone can build an app that does this and you may not believe me when I say this, some other people in the comments were already replying to what they built, in literal minutes. I was intrigued, ngl. I've been trying to read more, but between life and a short attention span (sometimes), I don't always make time to finish books the way I want. So I thought: if people can build something like this that fast, I can probably build one for myself. I built this tool to help me (and now you!) read faster while staying focused. The current word lights up as you read, keeping your eyes moving smoothly through the text at your own comfortable pace.
I plugged in one of my Apple Music playlists for the weirdos that listen to music while they read. It's just instrumentals though. Fast Reader highlights each word as you go, so your eyes don't wander and you stay locked in, as you should. Start at a comfortable speed, then ramp it up when you're ready. It's less about "being fast" and more about actually finishing what you start. Enjoy <3
